    Short answer

Type your title and author, pick a font, layout, colors and background or your own photo, and the cover draws as you type. Download an ebook cover at 1600 x 2560 px, or a full print wrap sized to your printer, trim and page count. Free, no signup, and nothing leaves your browser.

    How to use it

    1. Type your title, subtitle and author name.
    2. Pick a genre feel and a title font, then a layout and colors.
    3. Choose a background, or upload your own photo and set the tint so the title reads.
    4. For a paperback, switch to Print wrap and enter printer, trim size, paper and page count, plus back cover text.
    5. Download the ebook JPG, or the print PDF and PNG, and check them in your printer's previewer.

    How it works

The ebook cover is a single front at 1600 x 2560 px. The print wrap is back cover, spine and front side by side: full width = bleed + trim width + spine + trim width + bleed, and full height = bleed + trim height + bleed. The spine is the page count times your paper's thickness, from the printer's own figures, the same math as our KDP cover calculator.

Worked example: a 300-page, 6 x 9 in KDP paperback on cream paper has a 0.75 in spine. With 0.125 in bleed the full cover is 13 in x 9.25 in, which exports at 300 PPI as 3,900 x 2,775 px. Text stays at least 0.125 in inside the trim, and the back keeps a white 2 in x 1.2 in box where KDP adds the barcode.

Titles are set as large as they fit without breaking a word. Fonts load only when you pick them, and the cover is drawn on a canvas in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

    Questions authors ask

Is this book cover generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no paid tier. The 16 fonts are under the SIL Open Font License, so you can use them on covers you sell, and the designs are drawn in your browser. If you upload a photo, make sure you own it or have a license that covers book covers.

What size should an ebook cover be?

KDP recommends 2,560 px high by 1,600 px wide, a height-to-width ratio of 1.6 to 1. The generator exports exactly that as a JPG. For other stores, run it through the ebook cover resizer.

Can I make a KDP paperback cover with it?

Yes. Choose Print wrap, pick KDP, your trim size, paper and page count, and the generator builds back cover, spine and front in one file with 0.125 in of bleed, then exports a PDF at 300 PPI. KDP adds the barcode in the white box on the back, so leave it clear.

Why does the spine need my exact page count?

The spine width is the page count times the paper thickness. A 300-page 6 x 9 in book on cream paper has a 0.75 in spine. Change the page count after printing and the cover no longer fits, so build the final cover once the interior is finished.

Does it put text on the spine?

Only when the book is thick enough. KDP allows spine text from 80 pages, and the generator keeps it 0.063 in from each fold. Thinner books get a plain spine.

    Will my photo be uploaded?

No. The photo is read by your browser and drawn on the cover on your device. It is not sent to us, not stored, and not in the share link, which keeps only your design settings.

Is the print PDF accepted by KDP?

It is built to KDP's cover rules: full size with bleed, 300 PPI, text inside the safe area and a clear barcode box. Always check the preview in KDP's cover previewer and order a proof before you publish. Cover text should be at least 7 point; the generator sets it far larger.

Can I edit the cover in another app afterwards?

Yes. The PNG keeps its print size, so design apps open it at the right dimensions. The PDF is a flattened image of the cover, ready to upload; for layered editing, start from the PNG and the cover calculator template.
