    Short answer

Multiply the US price by each currency's rate, then check it against KDP's minimum and maximum there. At the ECB rates of September 29, 2026, a $4.99 Kindle ebook becomes about £3.77 (£3.99 rounded) on Amazon.co.uk. Rates here are not live: edit them and set the date.

    How to use it

    1. Choose Kindle ebook or paperback and enter your Amazon.com price.
    2. For an ebook, enter the file size. For a paperback, the page count, trim and ink.
    3. Check the exchange rates. Type today's rates if you have them, and the date in "Rates as of".
    4. Read each marketplace's price and whether KDP allows it.
    5. Copy the prices or download the CSV and enter them in KDP.

    How it works

Each price is your US price times the rate for that currency, rounded up to a price ending in 9 if you keep that option on.

Price = US price x rate per US dollar
Rate per US dollar = ECB rate per euro / ECB dollar rate per euro
Allowed when KDP minimum <= price <= KDP maximum

Worked example: $4.99 for a 2 MB Kindle ebook. On September 29, 2026 the ECB rates were 0.85718 GBP and 1.1355 USD per euro, so 1 USD = 0.7549 GBP. $4.99 x 0.7549 = £3.77, rounded up to £3.99. KDP allows £0.77 to £150.00 there, so it passes.

    Questions authors ask

Does KDP convert my price to other marketplaces?

Yes. You set a list price in your primary marketplace and KDP converts it for the others. You can also set each marketplace by hand, but prices you set by hand no longer change when you change the primary price. This tool shows what a conversion looks like and whether each price is allowed.

Why aren't the exchange rates live?

This site runs entirely in your browser and fetches nothing, so it cannot follow the markets. The starting rates are the European Central Bank's reference rates for September 29, 2026. Type today's rates from your bank, or from the prices KDP proposes, and put the date in "Rates as of".

How are the dollar rates worked out?

The ECB publishes rates against the euro. We divide each by the dollar rate to get rates per US dollar. On September 29, 2026, 1 USD was 0.7549 GBP, 0.8807 EUR and 157.12 JPY.

Do buyers pay tax on top of my list price?

In some marketplaces. KDP says VAT applies on Amazon.co.uk, the European stores, Amazon.pl and Amazon.se at the buyer's country rate, GST on Amazon.com.au and consumption tax on Amazon.co.jp. Those rows are marked with an asterisk. Check the price KDP shows with tax before you publish.

What are KDP's minimum and maximum prices?

For ebooks the minimum depends on file size and the maximum is fixed per store, for example €0.89 to €215.00 in Europe for a small file. For paperbacks the minimum is the printing cost divided by the royalty rate, so it depends on your book: £7.70 on Amazon.co.uk for a 300 page black ink book.

What does "Allowed, 35% only" mean?

The price is allowed but sits outside that store's 70% royalty band, so those sales would earn 35%. On Amazon.co.jp, for example, the band is ¥250 to ¥1,650; your converted price there is ¥790.

Why round to prices ending in 9?

It is a display choice, not a KDP rule, and you can turn it off. Rounding always goes up, never down, and yen prices round up to the next 10. The table checks the rounded price, so a price pushed over a limit shows up.
