How it works
The calculator counts your reading days between the start date and the finish date, then spreads the pages left over them, rounding up so you finish on time. Minutes a day use 332 words a page and 260 words a minute, the average adult silent reading rate for fiction in Brysbaert's 2019 meta-analysis.
Pages per day = pages left / reading days, rounded up
Minutes per day = pages per day x words per page / 260
Worked example: a 320 page book, read every day for 30 days, is 320 / 30 = 11 pages a day, rounded up. That is 11 x 332 = 3,652 words, about 14 min a day. Reading on weekdays only over the same span gives 22 reading days and 15 pages a day.

Questions authors ask
How many pages should I read a day?
Enough to finish by the date you want. For a 320 page book in 30 days it is 11 pages a day, about 14 min at an average pace. Reading only on weekdays over the same span raises it to 15.
How long does it take to read 25 pages a day?
At 332 words a page, 25 pages is about 8,300 words, or about 32 min at 260 words a minute, the adult average for fiction from Brysbaert's 2019 meta-analysis. A 320 page book takes 13 days at that pace.
How many words are on a page?
It depends on the trim size, font and spacing. We start from 332 words, our estimate for a 6 x 9 in paperback in 11 pt type. Count a full page of your own book and enter it for a closer answer.
Can I plan from a word count instead of pages?
Yes. Switch Book length to Words. 80,000 words at 332 words a page is 241 pages, and the plan works from that.
I am part way through. How do I update the plan?
Enter the pages you have already read and set the start date to today. The plan spreads what is left over the reading days you have before your finish date.
Is my reading plan saved?
