Privacy policy

The short version: our tools run in your browser, nothing you type into a tool is uploaded, and you never need an account. The one place we collect details is the quote form, and only when you send it.

What our tools do with your information

Every tool on USA Book Studios runs entirely in your browser. The numbers and choices you enter, like a page count or a trim size, are used on your device to calculate results and build downloads. They are not sent to our server and we never see them.

You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or email address to use any tool.

This promise is about the tools. The one place on the site where we collect personal details is thequote form for our studio services, and only when you choose to send it.

Share links and the page address

As you change a tool's settings, the page address updates to include them (for example?pages=300&trim=6x9), so you can bookmark or share your results. This only holds settings such as numbers and menu choices, never text you write, such as a title, a name, keywords, a description or an ISBN. If you open an older link that still holds text, the tool removes it from the address as the page loads.

The address stays in your browser until you use it. If you reload the page, open a bookmark or send the link to someone, the address, including those settings, is requested from our web host like any other web address.

What our web host records

Our site is hosted by Hostinger. Like almost every web host, their servers keep standard logs of requests: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used to run and secure the service. We do not use them to identify you.

Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are useful, as described below. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not show ads today. Our fonts are hosted on our own domain.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to count visits and see which tools people use. It loads after the page has finished loading, so it never slows a tool down.

Google Analytics collects:

  • the pages you view and how you arrived (for example from a search engine or another site),
  • your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address, which Google does not store),
  • your device type, browser, operating system and screen size,
  • a few events we define: when a tool download finishes (the tool and the file type, such as PNG, PDF, DOCX, XHTML or ICS), when a copy or copy share link button is used, when you follow a link to KDP, IngramSpark or Lulu, and when a quote request is sent (only the names of the services you ticked, such as "Book cover design").

These events never include anything you type into a tool or the quote form, such as your name, email or message. Nothing in them identifies you, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising: ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization are turned off for everyone.

Outside the regions below, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and_ga_<id>) that last up to two years, so repeat visits count once.

EEA, UK and Switzerland: if you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default. Google receives only cookieless signals and no_ga cookies are set on your device.

How to opt out: install Google'sGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies for this site in your browser settings. The tools work exactly the same either way. You can read how Google handles this data in the Google Privacy Policy.

Google AdSense

Not in use yet. We do not show ads today. Before we do, this section will explain how Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads and how you can turn off personalized ads, and we will update the date above.

The quote form

If you ask for a quote on our services pages, the form sends us your name, your email address and the project details you enter: the services you need, where your book is, its genre, and if you choose to add them, its length, your deadline, a budget range and your message.

We use these details only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to discuss and carry out the work. The form is sent to a small script on our own web host, which emails your request to contact@usabookstudios.com and does not store it anywhere else. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your details.

To stop spam, the script counts how many requests come from each IP address. It keeps only a scrambled (hashed) version of the address and the send times, and clears them after an hour. The form also has a hidden field that only automated spam fills in.

If the form cannot reach us, it offers to open your own email app with your details filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself.

If you email us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share your details.

Children

USA Book Studios is meant for adults working on their books. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

The only personal information we hold directly is the email and quote requests you send us. You can ask us to show you or delete them at any time. For Google Analytics, see how to opt out above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes, such as adding ads, will be described here before they take effect.
