How much does Kindle Unlimited pay per page? (August 2026)

Amazon does not publish the per-page rate. Every rate here is author-reported, the Amazon.com rate in US dollars that authors read from their own KDP reports. The fund sizes are KDP's own figures.

What are KENP and KENPC?

KENPC is the Kindle Edition Normalized Page Count: how many pages Amazon says your ebook has. KDP measures every book with the same standard font, line height and line spacing, and counts images, charts and graphs, so a page is the same size in every book. You find it on the Promote and Advertise page in your Bookshelf.

KENP read is how many of those normalized pages Kindle Unlimited readers actually read. That is what you are paid for: pages read the first time, up to 3,000 per reader per book.

What is the latest Kindle Unlimited rate?

Authors reported $0.00489 per KENP on Amazon.com for August 2026. KDP set the KDP Select Global Fund at $66 million that month. Over the last 12 months the rate averaged $0.00467, from $0.00418 in January 2026 to $0.00489 in August 2026.

How has the KENP rate changed over the last 12 months?

Author-reported Amazon.com rates, and the Global Fund KDP announced for each month (All Stars bonuses not included). The newest month is highlighted.

Across the 12 months the rate moved +8.9% from September 2025 to August 2026. On 100,000 pages read, the gap between the lowest and highest month is $71.83.

How is the per-page rate worked out?

Each month Amazon sets the size of the KDP Select Global Fund and shares it out by pages read. Each country gets a share based on exchange rates, reading and local subscription prices, and each author earns their share of the pages read in that country. KDP announces the fund around the 15th of the following month.

So a bigger fund does not guarantee a higher rate. If readers read more pages across all books, the same money is split more ways.

How much do pages read actually earn?

At the August 2026 rate of $0.00489:

• 1,000 pages a day is about 30,417 pages a month, or $148.88.
• One reader who finishes a 400-page book earns you $1.96. A reader who stops halfway earns $0.98.
• 100 borrows of that book, read 60% of the way on average, is 24,000 pages, or $117.48.
• A 3,600-page box set read to the end still pays for 3,000 pages per reader: $14.68.
• 100,000 pages earn $489.48 at the latest rate, which is the 12-month high, and $417.65 at the 12-month low.

Why is every KU figure an estimate?

• Amazon does not publish the rate, so every public rate, including ours, is author-reported.
• The rate for a month is only known about two weeks after the month ends.
• Each marketplace pays its own rate. Readers outside the US change your average.
• Only first reads count, so re-reads earn nothing.
